Been here several times now. always on a bicyle. Really friendly staff and always happy to accommodate the bikes. It is my 'go-to' hotel in Berwick. Have I tried olther? No, I don't need to.

The staff here deserve my appreciation for their friendly approach and helpfulness, right from my initial phone enquiry (thank you Anna!)and at reception whilst checking-in. This extended to the restaurant team, where I thoroughly enjoyed my evening meal and then also a superb breakfast the following morning. The standard of decor and facilities is very high and my room was spacious with a comfortable, contemporary feel.I stayed here some years ago, immediately following the extensive refurbishment, and I'm pleased to say that the quality of everything here is still extremely high.

Our stay in the King's Arms was comfortable, the large bedroom cooling us nicely after hot days. The staff were all friendly, the breakfast good (though slow on Sunday). We didn;t use the bar, which seemed out of character with everything else, but enjoyed other places nearby, especially in Bridge Street. And the whole town is full of fine buildings, market town life, with sea air all around. JM

A lovely old hotel which has been given a new lease of life by its ownerrs, and refurbished it to a high standard. Lovely big clean rooms and ensuites. And the staff were more than helpful. There was a problem with the water when I stayed there but the staff were brilliant in dealing with it -explained the cause of the problem, got the plumber out (on a Sunday!) and moved me to another room. Didntget a chance to try the restaurant but breakfast was really good. Would definitely stay there again

The Kings Arms is centrally located in Berwick and handy for the town centre and the walls, although a long way from the station. My room was well furnished and equipped and scrupulously clean.I didn't eat there, but there are several places nearby. The only issue was that the wifi worked with my Android phone, but not with my iPad!

This hotel is lovely. We highly recommend it to anyone who is having a break in this area. However, it should be noted that the Limoncello restaurant and bar are not run by the same people who run the hotel &it shows. The standard of service, food etc let the place down. Food of a poor standard and the bar staff (not restaurant staff!!) rude! Will possibly stay at the hotel again but will avoid eating there. Such as shame as it let the weekend experience down.

Like Berwick itself, the hotel is in transition to higher standards and making itself somewhere worth staying at.The location, rooms, public areas and restaurant are good.Short and long term parking are easy, but the station is a trek. The hotel infrastructure is still being improved, but with minimal effect on customers. To get from good to excellent, there will have to be more attention to detail, a more distinctive customer offer, and better staff supervision, training and motivation.

The hotel is very central and easy to get to from bus we took. When we arrived the receptionist wasn't at his desk but we were quickly told by other staff that he was just checking rooms and would be down soon and when he arrived shortly afterwards he apologised and asked us if we'd been waiting long so we found him to be very polite. When we told him there were no towels in our room he offered to take them up himself and when we returned later that night they were in our room. We didn't use the bar or have breakfast so we can't comment on these facilities. We did find a very good restaurant at another hotel just down the road towards the city wall so can't really comment on the restaurant either.

It's almost unfair to "review"a hotel when you booked it as a stopover for a few hours sleep to break a journey. That's all we wanted and that's what we got.Reasonably priced, clean, well laid out accommodation, no frills (none asked for or needed) and easy payment. In, sleep, out, back on the A1.Job done - and done well.
Reviewer:Peter W | Wed 10th Aug 2016 | 2 years ago
Very nice room, newly decorated and ensuite newly fitted out, though shower not easy to control. Shower mirror light not working. No onsite parking, only 1 hour in front of Hotel but a free 24 hour car park at the end of the road. Good central town location for bars and restaurants and very close to A1. Overall quite good.

The Kings Arms is a beautiful hotel. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was huge and the bed comfortable. The issues we had were that when emptying the bath, the water came up out of the shower as the drain was blocked - we told reception who sorted it straight away. The Limoncello restaurant is really cheap but fantastic with huge portions of fresh food that is to die for! The cocktail bar was very busy as expected for a Saturday n8ghts and the cocktail choice was great! We were rudely wokeat 2 and 5 am by people above us having a domestic and had to go to reception in my Pj's to tell them. They did their best to diffuse the situation and offered apologies. The breakfast choice is good with cereals toast pastries fruit cereals and yogurts as well as a choice of cooked meals. It was delicious. Overall a brilliant stay just a shame some guests don't respect others and cause broken sleep in a wonderful hotel room! Would stay again x

I recently enjoyed visiting The King's Arms again for the first time in 37 years. Naturally, it has changed enormously since those days - the Georgian Bar has gone, the Hunting Lodge is now the Limoncello restaurant and the Gentlemen Only Bar is a thing of the past!It was nevertheless a most nostalgic visit and one I thoroughly enjoyed. The newly refurbished hotel is delightful, the staff are very kind and I look forward to returning in the not-too-distant future.

Firstly Alex at The Kings Arms Hotel very kindly granted is an early check in so we could get ready before travelling to a wedding. Extremely kind and we'd have been stuck otherwise. The hotel is really lovely looking as you enter the lobby but I found it really cold as the doors were open as we arrived. It's got a really attractive seated and coffee area but they were just in darkness as was the restaurant. Felt a shame for them not to have been welcoming and bustling. The room was really pleasant and we were brought a fan late at night as it was hot.Great selection of to channels inc CBeebies HURRAH.Breakfast was yummy and a great selection. The chef was super friendly and all of the staff cheerful and pleasant.I've only rated it average because that's what I'd expect from a hotel. It could have been more inviting in the lobby and the bar open which it wasn't at 8 on a Sunday. We struggled to get food from the area with a baby at that time of night but I didn't try room service (if it was available). I would recommend. Thank you.

staff were very helpful rooms were quite large bathroom décor was modern and the in house restaurant was excellent it is an Italian and the prices are well below what you normally pay in a hotel like this, the only down side for me was that there was no wifi in your room you had to sit near the reception to receive a good signal but that wouldn't stop me from staying here again.

This is an historic hotel, visited twice by Dickens, which has been recently refurbished to a decent standard. Rooms are pleasant and well stocked, although on our visit the TV didn't work initially and the fixtures in the bathroom were slapdash. A little more attention to these sorts of things would justify the slightly steep prices. Reception and restaurant staff were charming and helpful and the restaurant was very good and, by city standards, quite cheap. Free parking is available nearby, but might be a problem for less mobile visitors.

We stayed at The Kings Arms after going to a funeral. The Hotel was easy to find, Just a small trot from a free car park. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was presented very well. Our room (15) was very nice, clean, of a good size, large bathroom with shower over the bath and a large separate shower. the bed was very comfy and i never woke in the night, which was excellent. We had cocktails in the bar, lady who served was fun and friendly. We also booked a table in the Lemoncello restaurant, the food was not at all expensive, the food was excellent for the price. The restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere and was busy all evening so i would recommend that you pre book. All in all we had an excellent stay. We will be back.

A very nice hotel with friendly staff and pleasant accommodation. Very central, only issue was car parking which was limited near the hotel but available further down the road. It was fine for us but might pose a problem for less able people.Certainly will go back again.

Stayed one night but wish it was more .Lovely hotel staff very helpful friendly and cheerful. Room was beautiful but was disappointed the next morning to find that the walk in showerdid not work at all not a drop of water came out? And the over bath shower kept stopping which made showering awkward however on mentioning this when checking out we were assured it would be looked into and received sincere apologies. We stayed in the hotel for our evening meal and the quality of the food was amazing despite the restaraunt being very busy the service was first class and very reasonably priced as was the small but perfectly formed cocktail bar. We would certainly stay there again hopefully with a working shower next time though. Thank you to all the staff that we had the pleasure of dealing with.

We booked to stay at the Kings Arms for a weekend, in what we thought would be a relatively traditional type hotel. On arrival on a Friday evening the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. We decided not to take her advice and book for dinner in the restaurant, we wanted to have a look around. I have to say Berwick was very quiet for a Friday. We there fore decided to try the hotel bar. To our surprise it was the liveliest place in town, with a good mix of young and older people and turned out to be a very nice night.Breakfast was great and the service was exemplary. On the second night we booked for dinner, which was fantastic but the staff made the evening for us, by being ever so friendly and helpful. In conclusion the Kings Arms is trying to be a little more than just a hotel and they are succeeding, thanks to a great team of staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My two nights at this town centre hotel was most enjoyable. My well appointed en-suite room was very comfortable and the general guest facilities were more than I needed. The restaurant offers fine well presented food and the bill does not detract from the experience. The hotel staff are attentive and provide the hotel with a joyful atmosphere.

The Kings Arms is a boutique hotel with character. The room was comfy but quirky. Some minor niggles such as windows wouldn't open, floor not swept every day &biscuits only provided on first day. But this did not spoil our stay as the staff were exceptionally friendly.

This hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Berwick and the glorious countryside that surrounds it. It isreasonably priced compared to competitors in this popular holiday area. You are only a few minutes walk from the ancient city walls with stunning views across the Tweed and out across the north sea. The Kings Arms has been recently refurbished and we had a lovely big room with high ceilings and a sparklingly clean modern bathroom. The Limoncello restaurant which is attached to the hotel provides good Italian food at very reasonable prices and serves excellent breakfasts for the hotel. We were particularly impressed by the eggs Benedict and the omelettes.
Reviewer:Sue B | Mon 8th Jun 2015 | 3 years ago
Very accommodating and friendly staff. It is a lovely old building with impressive internal contemporary décor throughout.Being an old building probably has planning restrictions so "secondary glazing"on the bedroom windows would be helpful for noise prevention.Have stayed here previously and will stay again if in the Berwick area.Being a solo traveller relying on public transport was out early and back late so did not get to use the restaurant.

The menu was extensive and delicious. Only one small point I would make was, as we were in room 4, we appeared to be above the bar which would benefit from sound proofing, as the music could be heard in our room, however would definitely stay there again if ever in Berwick

My friends and I were looking for a nice hotel to meet up for our 50th birthday get together and the Kings Arms was an inexpensive, pleasant. clean exceptionally friendly establishment right in the centre of town. We were coming from North and South, so Berwick on Tweed was handy for both because of rail station. The room was clean and modern. The restaurant was worth a visit too. The hotel bar was small and lively but when it came to sleeping, the hotel was quiet and peaceful. Weenjoyed our one night stay very much. We booked the superior double which was lovely. It was such a shame that someone had burnt the new carpet with an iron. Room was very clean, bed excellent and room faclities very good. We ate in the attached restaurant, which I think is a separate business? It was very good value for money however service was very brisk with food and drinks being removed from the table before we had finished. The restaurant tables were being dismantled for setting up for the next day and it was very noisey. It would be good if you passed this onto them as it would put us off eating there again. We did have a later booking as the restaurant could not accomodate us earlier. However overall hotel was very good value for money

Booked this as a surprise birthday weekend away after my partner commented on how nice Berwick looked. Arrived at 8:30pm as travelling up from Leeds and was welcomed by the manager who checked us in quickly. Room was very modern and was nice and warm - freezing outside! Went to the bar on the first and second night there - a great selection of cocktails and the barman was helpful in choosing which ones to try (we had a few!!).Paid extra for the breakfast which was lovely, they were also very accommodating in adapting my partner's breakfast (he can be fussy!) which set us up for the day. Also went to the restaurant for an evening meal - very reasonable prices and great food and atmosphere.Overall a very enjoyable trip - would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were gifted a couple of nights here from our children for our anniversary. The hotel is a delightfully renovated old building, old and new working well together. The staff were so friendly and helpful, even sending beautiful flowers to our room, and upgrading our room. The breakfast is comprehensive and the chef went out of his way to accomodate our requests. I cannot praise the Kings Arms enough and I truly hope we can visit there again.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Had a drink in the cocktail bar and ate in the restaurant. Both were very nice and reasonably priced. Planning to come back in the summer.

We just got back yesterday (Sunday 4th January) after spending 2 nights in the Kings Arms for my boyfriends birthday. It was a suprise trip for him and we were really happy when we got to the hotel. We parked near the quay walls, a free, longstay car park which is literally 3 minutes walk from the Hotel. We ate in the hotel restaurant 'Limoncello' on our first night and both had a starter and a main - All our meals were lovely, fresh, tasty food which we didn't have to wait very long for at all. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We couldnt beleive how cheap the meals were!! Staff were lovely also throughout the whole hotel. We visited the cocktail bar twice and sampled a few cocktails - Good value for money. Would recommend the Zombie cocktail my boyfriend had! Very strong!!Decor and facilities in the hotel is all very new and snazzy - Massive bath and really nice rooms. We couldn't fault anything!Overall I would rate this hotel 5 out of 5 and we will definitely be visiting again this year!! :-)

Had a lovely time. Refurbished hotel. Would recommend. We had couple of negative issues however quite minor. But even taking theses into consideration we would definitely return. We were in room 19 and the shower was intermitent working. We always managed to shower but needs repairing. Also when we returned to the hotel on a Sunday evening didn't realise that both the restaurant and bar were closed at 4pm in afternoon. Maybe better communication with residents. Would consider booking superior room next time. They are bigger. Overall had nice time and would return again in future.

Stayed one night at the Kings Arms Hotel, hotel was clean and immaculate throughout. Reception, lifts, restaurant, room and bathroom all spotless. Staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very reasonably priced. Problem with boiler during our stay which resulted in no hot water, hotel did everything they could to rectify the problem. As a consolation we received a complimentary starter, lunch and sweet each for the inconvenience. Would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

I stayed here with a group of friends on a cycling holiday. The outside of the hotel looks quite run-down, but inside it is very smart. The chap on reception was very helpful about our bikes and we were able to bring them right inside to store securely. The bedroom was very nicely furnished, and even though it overlooked the road, it was still very quite. Also very well located for shops and restaurants. The only slight disappointment was the lack of wi-fi in the room.Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely comfortable room, obviously fairly recently decorated, needs a wee bit of 'snagging'. Breakfast was great. Evening meal in Limoncello was fast, friendly and frenetic, and very good value. Central location, friendly staff, what's not to like.

We were impressed how a historic hotelhas been converted to a plush modern hotel without altering the exterior. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient. The adjoining restaurant was good value and we ate there both evenings. There were a few mainly minor drawbacks such as no hooks in the bathroom and the bedside lamps were too low to be useful for reading. We would have preferred less firm mattresses. There were no protectors or toppers but we understand mattress protectors are on order. There was no double glazing. This didn't bother us but it could have been a problem if the weather had been cold and/or there was noise outside.

I booked your hotel as it was my dads 60th birthday and he has always wanted to visit Berwick. Uponentering their room my parents were overwhelmed that your staff had taken the time to put up Happy Birthday banner, and had also placed a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket in the room.My parents were delighted with their room, from the large luxurious bathroom and beautiful toiletries to the thickness of the carpets. They also visited the hotel restaurant and were extremely pleased with the standard of the food and the value for money.I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the staff who were involved in giving my parents the first class experience that they deserve. You truly gave my dad a very happy birthday. I am sure that they will be making a return visit in the near future.Thank so much.Susan Higgins

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, our room was very clean and modernand well decorated with a view onto the Main Street. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent, the staff were very attentive and there was a great choice of meals on the menu and they also had a specials boardwith an excellent choice of food.I would like to thank everyone for making our stay at the hotel a memorable one and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of coming to Berwick. Staff is definitely very friendly - from reception to the restaurant Limoncello for flavorful Italian cuisine. The only downside are the facility's hours:breakfast and reception only open at 8 (at least on saturday) so i couldn't have breakfast before work and the electricity went out and nobody was available to help.On a personal note I am so sorry for dropping my cup of tea on the bed.

Had read some of the reviews about the hotel and was worried a bit about what it would be like but nothing to worry about. Lovely rooms and bathrooms. Very modern and clean. Managed to get a look at a superior room and that was a great size with great bathroom. Yes its an old building but they've done a great job of refurbishing. Looks like a few things still to be finished off but didn't affect us in any way. The outside has a notice saying that a planning application had been made re the outside of the building and obviously they have to wait to see what the Council decides about what signage etc they can put up as its a listed building. We found it easily though.Great choice at breakfast in the Limoncello restaurant and wishing we had went there for dinner the night before.

Nice quiet room at the back. As recently refurbished noticed a few snagging things that need attention re the decoration but did not detract from the comfort and cleanliness. Fantastic evening meal in the restaurant. Only gripe was the fact that as there was no shower cap provided with the complimentary toiletries (which I would have expected) and as it was an overhead shower head I couldn't have a shower without getting my hair wet. Have read many negative reviews but I would say some people nit pick. Complaining about seagulls - did they not expect to see/hear any at the sea side?
Reviewer:Mrs Judith B | Sun 3rd Aug 2014 | 4 years ago
The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Shame about the outside of the building! The bathroom washbasin taps were very hard to operate. They need a bit of attention from a plumber. They're either off, or a torrent.I couldn't get the TV to turn on, but I had already got ready for bed so didn't bother to get assistance. All in all, not a terrible stay, and a convenient location.

Very friendly energetic young staff tried hard to operate the hotel in the face of practical difficulties, especially shortage of manpower. The refurbishment was not intrusive at this weekend but the new fittings already showed signs of wear-our curtain rail in 19 was coming off, having already been repaired. The barman in Hide and Seek was a delight at Happy Hour. The "musical"entertainment at the adjacent Brown Bear and the roistering outside linked to it made sleep impractical till midnight on Friday. Not a rare problem for town centre hotels! The next night we mistook the over-amplified singer for karaoke at first. Happily he was so bad the young crowd was discouraged and the performance finished earlier.Berwick is a great place to visit and tour from.

On arrival, we were greeted by a very nice, helpful receptionist who made checking in a breeze, also booking a table for us on our behalf in the adjoining restaurant. The room was very clean, well made &cannot fault it. Bed was freshly made &also very clean. Room was on the top floor &as a result was hot with no aircon to help bring the temperature down which proved to be a couple of sweaty nights sleep. All in all a delightful stay in the Hotel. The newly opened cocktail bar is small but very nice &the staff were polite, friendly &really good to chat to.The only downside to us celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary was the meal we had in the adjoining Limoncello restaurant.AS mentioned the receptionist had booked our table on the Saturday night for 7pm. We arrived at 6.50 at which point we told they would be a couple of minutes setting our table. After watching several other parties walking in &getting seated before us we enquired why &told it was just a very busy night. So, after finally getting seated AT 7.40! we proceeded to place our order. The resulting fiasco of service was terrible. Waited 20mins for starter, a further 20mins for the main then after waiting for 20mins for the bill got sick &went to the counter to pay.Arrived 6.50. Left 9.30!!! No apologies or anything, just give us your cash &do one!Cannot fault the food - Gorgeous.4* Hotel (would have been 5 if only the room wasnt so hot)5* Hotel staff5* Cocktail Bar &staff4* Restaurant food0* Restaurant serviceWould have given 5* overall if it wasnt for the Restaurant Service. Will definately stop there again but will NOT be booking a table at the restaurant.

It was only after we arrived that we realised we had stayed here before a few years back. The hotel is in process of a serious upgrade - well situated toward the centre of the town on an historic site. The room was spacious and comfortable and well appointed (but no clock.)The bathroom was large - and the taps and plugs took some time to learn to operate (some instructions might help?)The towel rail gets very hot - this needs a warning or a lower heat setting. The breakfast was a little slow, but tasty and very good value. No onsite car parking but local parking no problem and free.

Very comfortable bedrooms, and warm, friendly service. Excellent breakfast.Cheaper dishes for dinner were only OK, but things from the blackboard were much better.Suggestions:grow vegetables for the restaurant in the attractive back garden;repair broken drainpipe at the back (needs urgent attention);explain how shower and bath controls work in the leaflets in the room;lower boiler temperature for hot water to save money, energy, and scalding risks for guests. In publicity material, emphasize hotel's proximity to Maltings Arts centre, and outstanding beauty of views from walks on town battlements and by the harbour. Not part of a sterile chain;bags of atmosphere and history;so definitely recommended.

The Hotel had recently undergone refurbishment. It has beautiful Georgian features well preserved. Although we had a beautiful en-suitedone out in quality materials there were some unattended to snags.... nothing terrible though. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. If you want wifi it only works if you are a few yards from reception. The seagulls are a bit of a menace with their loud calls starting at around 3.30 a.m. (early July) andI got "splashed"on by one as I entered the hotel. We would visit again!

Stayed in Berwick to visit some historic sites and didn't realise Charles Dickens stayed at the Kings Arms. It's being renovated so the only name on the front of the building is Charles Dickens! Anyway I had a very pleasant little room, with all I could want. Really well fitted out, comfortable, clean. Was July and warm, had to have the window open, so the only draw back was the noisy sea gulls outside and the skip that was collected at 7:30am Sunday morning! Otherwise great, thanks.

Nice clean hotel, smack bang in the center of Bewick with lots of parking near by.The restaurant was fine enough, nothing special but the meals were nice. The service left a little to be desired as they were more concerned with laughing and joking with each other and selecting music but when we did have their attention it was good. The young waiters did forget things you'd asked them for.But there are lots of nice places to eat around Berwick so we ate out after our first night.Breakfast very good, cooked to order. The only thing I felt could have been improved was the number of staff on the front desk. The young lady who served us was incredibly helpful but she was on her own.At one point, having to run toilet roll up to our room herself.Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely come here again.

Reception was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Nice big room and bathroom. Quite warm on arrival, would have been nice to get some fresh air in, but appreciate it's quite an old building and the windows have probably been sealed for a while. Availbility of Wi-Fi in room would be good, i Got the impression this will be available in future. Will hopefully get the chance to visit again in the future and will be good to see it when the Bar is open and the outside has a facelift. If the interior is anything to go by i'm sure it will be impressive

I stayed on business and really like what is being done to bring this hotel into what I see as a 4 star rating.Very comfortable and top spec. However breakfast needs to be looked at. A waiter or greeter is needed. Leaving this to one guy also doing the cooking doesn't work unless you train him to do both. I was ignored for a long while and others left the restaurant without being addressed and food was also not ready despite it being 7:45.

Newly renovated but still a few tweaks needed. Some furniture looked brand new, but some was showing its age. 2 comfy chairs, a desk and 2 bedside cupboards and lots of room.Room was clean, modern but with still the squeaky floorboards, or what some would call character, of an old building. Double bed exceptionally comfy. Nice and central location, a little noisy with only single glazing facing the front street on a Friday night, but nothing to stop me sleeping. Loved the towel sculptures! Reception friendly and helpful. Limoncello restaurant tasty and good value. I had a pasta dish with shredded salmon but it was more like cubes of salmon - very pleasantly surprised. Busy but good atmosphere.

We stayed at the Kings Arms Hotel whilst taking a weekend break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed in a superior room and found it perfect for our needs. It was clean spacious and the layout of the room meant the wardrobe was away from the main bedroom area giving the feeling of moving between rooms. I liked this. The bathroom was large with bath and separate shower, both of good size. Lovely fluffy towels and modern décor. Staff were very helpful and accommodating sorting out anything asked of them immediately,i.e booking us a meal and giving us information on the local area. The restaurant located within the hotel is very efficiently run, friendly staff and great food at a very reasonable price. We had a great weekend and would definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed in Room 16 which was a family room. The room was well set out with the double bed in one section and a single bed round the corner giving privacy between parents and child. The ensuite was very modern and clean. We ate at Limoncello which adjoined the hotel. Food there was good value and there was plenty of choice. Service was too quick for our liking though and we had eaten our starter before our drinks had even arrived. The hotel is still work in progress but overall we found it very pleasant and a good base to explore the local area.

We stayed at the Kings Arms for 2 nights. It is currently undergoing refurbishment and we were given room 21, a newly refurbished room at the front, on the 2nd floor. The room and bathroom are both decorated and fitted out to a very high standard and the room has beautiful original windows.Having said this, there was some noise from the street at night, as there are gaps around the windows!

The hotel/staff were excellent, however the lack of hotel parking facilities, plus the voracity of local Traffic Wardens, cost me an extra £25 for parking just outside the line markings,in the street out front, left a sour note to a nice 2 day break. For this reason I am only awarding an average. The hotel needs to look at getting its own parking facilities

We visited The Kings Arms on a Wowcher offer for 2 nights. First impressions (once we found our way in as there's still no name on the outside of the building) were very good and Alex(andra!) gave us a very warm welcome. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated with a nice comfy bed and the bathroom was big - plenty of very hot water and towels and toiletries. We did have a bit of trouble controlling the flow on the shower but I'm not going to complain of having water that's too hot! However, Management might consider providing a bath mat as I seriously slipped stepping out of the shower onto the smooth tiles with wet feet.My only big complaint? Please, PLEASE ditch the plastic lined mattress covers! They are hot, sticky and sweaty to sleep on and smack of cheap, second rate motels! (Sorry but I hate these things so much!)But, on the whole, we did enjoy our stay and the meal we had in Limoncello was pretty good. Breakfast chef gets brownie points!!Would we stay at the Kings Arms again? Possibly ... if we hadn't found somewhere that's absolutely faultless, just a few miles from Berwick, for our third night's stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kings Arms Hotel. The room was lovely, very clean with tasteful decor. There was everything you could need provided in the room. The hotel was also in a very convenient location in the centre of town. All in all a great stay!

Beautifully refurbished inside....much better than the price indicates. The restaurant was superb and very reasonable. The young lady on reception was one of the most pleasant and professional that I have encountered, a credit to her employers. This hotel was a lovely surprise in a good position in a nice town...need I say more except I will be back ?!?!

The Kings Arms is situated in a historic part of the Berwick -on - Tweed close to the quay side. It is ideal for exploring the town on foot. There is plenty to see and do. The hotel itself has been recently been refurbished to a high standard and it was a pleasurable experience to stay there. The staff were friendly and helpful. Steps up to the front door and parking restrictions outside the hotel could impact on less mobile visitors. Once inside everything is easily accessible.

Kings arms staff were very polite, friendly &happy to help! the Hotel was very clean tidy &modern. The Front door did however keep blowing adjar, making it very drafty! The food in the Italian was very good,&affordable, the service was excellent throughout our stay! lovely atmosphere. Great base for visiting places of interest, i.e Bamborough castle, &Holyisland both well worth visiting, only down side was the parking, outside.

Overall I was happy with my stay - I had a very friendly welcome from the girl on reception and had a lovely, recently refurbished room. The room was a little chilly but I had a thick duvet so I wasn't cold during the night. The bathroom was also recently done to a high standard, however the shower wasn't great.I ate at Limoncello as I was too tired to venture into town - a big mistake. Although the food sounded great on the menu it failed to deliver. Odd tasting and overcooked.Despite the restaurant, the hotel itself is very nice and my room was a reasonable price. I would recommend to families/business people/couples - just find somewhere else to eat!

The hotel was well situated for walks around the town and shopping. The room was comfortable and spacious but lacked a mirror near a socket for the hair drier. The continental breakfast was lovely with a great selection to choose from. Our evening meal in the Limoncello restaurant was very good. Still undergoing renovation, the Hotel will be even better when the outside appearance matches the smartness of the inside. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Staff on Reception were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and well appointed - very good rooms, bathroom and beds.I had two very good nights sleep, and value for money was very good.didn't use restaurant because the menu wasn't my kind of food.No Wifi in bedrooms was a slight downer - but reception staff were very helpful on this point - both nights of my stay.would definitely stay again if in the areaG

Stayed for two nights in a premium room due to all standard rooms been booked, room was comfortable, clean and warm, TV was a little on small side due to size of room, tea and coffee facilities in the room. For business travelers the breckfast times are a little restrictive been 8-10am for me it would be better 7-9am, it also would have been nice to have bottled water in the room. I am going to stay again in a standard room to compare with the B&B I normally stay at.

This was our first visit to Berwick Upon Tweed, and our lovely experience at The Kings Arms helped make our weekend really enjoyable. The staff were very warm and welcoming, explaining everything that we would need, and booking us very quickly. Our room had clearly had a lot of time and money invested recently, having a modern feel.Everything was very clean and we had everything available in our room that would be expected.Would certainly love to return to The Kings Arms for another enjoyable stay.

I recently stayed at the King's Arms with my eldest son for a couple of days as we were attending a funeral in Coldstream. We had a wonderful stay, the rooms are airy and comfortable having been recently refurbished. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant, Limoncello is amazing serving excellent food. I will certainly be visiting again. Thank you Kings Arms for a wonderful stay.

The room was very modern, clean, tidy with nice facilities;comfy bed, tea and coffee, good TV, and a lovely bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the receptionist recommended the restaurant on site for our evening meal. It exceeded our expectations with its extremely tasty and very reasonably priced food! It is definitely worth a visit. Also breakfast offered a great choice from the continental or cooked option.Overall the hotel is in a great spot in the town.We would definitely recommend this hotel for visitors to Berwick! A fabulous modern hotel better than most of the big chain hotels. A highly rated restaurant which seemed to be busy all the time. The hotel was ideally situated by the shops and railway station not far away. I found the staff very friendly and helpful very chatty very welcoming. I would highly recommend the hotel if it's just for a break or business.

Stayed 2 nights here 14/02/2014, everything about our stay was wonderful, hotel very nice although not entirely finished, didn't affect our stay in any way, room, stunning, very high quality finish, comfortable and well equipped. breakfast, more than ample, good selection available and the food at Limoncello restaurant was exceptional. The staff make a wonderful experience even better, very welcoming friendly and accommodating, we didn't encounter any unpleasantness in the hotel or in Berwick itself. would definitely return, every weekend if we could. Thankyou Kings Arms for an amazing 2 days!

Had a lovely two night break in the newly refurbished hotel, hard working reception staff, enjoyed meals in the very busy restaurant, Limoncello both evenings. Only two small complaints breakfast could have been warmer and water in bathroom was too hot! Excellent location and value for money will be better when cocktail bar opens. No on site parking facilities but car park just down the road is £2.50 all day and can park outside hotel after 6pm free. Hotel has no signage out front to say Kings Arms.

I was most impressed by the high standard at the newly refurbished Kings Arms Hotel. The whole place has sympathetically refurbished with boutique quality bedroomsandsumptuous state of the art bathrooms with good toiletries. A first class welcome at reception. The restaurant offers good value and cuisine. This is a great find for anyone visiting Berwick and would be good for the holidaymaker to base themselves to tour the region.

This is my firwt visit since the refurbishment and I must say I was impressed.Room was lovely and clean. Only slight thing was the lack of repair to a curtain pole but that didnt affect my enjoyment of the facilities. Evening meal in Lemoncello was top quality. The Chef is of a superb standard.

No Wifi available in the room although this was advertised at time of booking. The bedroom was very nice but the shower was over complicated and pulsed either red hot for a few seconds or cool for a few more. The best attribute of the hotel was the charming receptionist who was very helpful and apologetic regarding wifi concerns etc.Wish I'd remembered her name as she is the reason this is not a lower rating.
